ENGLISHIn October, the students read a comic piece of literature – ‘Uncle Podger Hangs a Picture’. Besides the reading comprehension and new vocabulary, the students brainstormed about the character sketch of the main protagonist and attempted to pen down the same on their own. The students also explored yet another poem- ‘Someone’ and further built on their knowledge of poetic devices. In grammar, they practiced the concepts of verbs, adverbs and tenses. In creative writing, they were introduced to ‘Article Writing’ with the help of hints. FRENCH In the month of October, students understood different professions along with gender through an activity. They learnt how to introduce a person by stating their profession with the help of an identity card. HINDIअक्टूबर माह में विषय हिंदी कक्षा - छह में साहित्य - पाठ- सूरज का इंतजार के माध्यम से छात्रों को सादा जीवन उच्च विचार के ग्रहणीय गुणों से छात्रों को प्रेरित किया । छात्रों ने जीवनोपयोगी नैतिक-मूल्यों की जानकारी प्राप्त की । वाद-विवाद अभिव्यक्ति के द्वारा छात्रों ने आपसी प्रेम अर्थात सद्भावना , पवित्रता-स्वच्छता , परिश्रम , सत्य- अहिंसा आदि गुणों को अपनाकर हम समाज और देश का हित कर सकते हैं आदि गुणों को महत्व को जाना और समझा । व्याकरण - क्रिया , काल , कारक, विशेषण, क्रियाविशेषण , मुहावरे आदि पाठ्यक्रम पूर्ण करा दिया गया है। SANSKRITअक्टूबर माह में विषय संस्कृत कक्षा - षष्ठी में पाठ- मम पाठशाला , अव्ययपदा: , लट्लकार, शब्दरूप - अकारांत का अनुप्रयोग विभिन्न अकारांत शब्दों जैसे फल , वृक्ष , पुस्तक , बालक और छात्र शब्दों के आधार पर और आकारांतशब्दों का अनुप्रयोग विभिन्न आकारांत शब्दों जैसे बालिका और छात्रा शब्दों के आधार पर तथा अस्मद् - युष्मद् सर्वनाम शब्दरूप की प्रथमा -द्वितीया विभक्ति तालिका निर्माण करते हुए अभ्यास कार्य करते हुए अनुप्रयोग किया गया है । SPANISHThe student learnt to talk about distance using new words like “Cerca” for near and “Lejos” for far. Also, learnt to refer to the time needed to travel from one place to another and the real distance in meters and kilometers. The class revised numbers up to 31, from 5th grade and learnt up to 100. Looking at the map of Spain, the class learnt to name important places in the city, like monuments, museums, castles etc. in Spanish.During a class activity, the students found the names of different places with the help of some given clues. For each chapter, the practice of reading was done in the class and question answers as well. MATHEMATICSStudents understood the concept of ‘Fractions’ through various real-life examples like pizza, burger on-off switches on the switchboard etc. Also, they divided themselves into different groups as per the Fractions. They learnt to perform various operations on fractions with the help of realistic examples. They also enhanced their conceptual understanding of converting an improper fraction into a mixed fraction and vice-versa. They also learnt to compare fractions. SCIENCEPHYSICS: LIGHT A group discussion was held in the class wherein the students discussed about ‘Light and its Sources’. They differentiated between natural and artificial sources of light. Also, by seeing through various objects they differentiated among opaque, transparent and translucent objects. Through paper roll activity they proved that light travels in a straight line CHEMISTRY: Fibre to Fabric In order to mark the celebrations of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji and to pay tribute to this noble soul ‘Make in India’ and ‘Khadi Movement’ was revived in sync with the topic ‘Fibre to Fabric’. The students were proud to know that they belong to a country which used the fabric of cloth (Khadi) to start a freedom movement. The students discussed amongst themselves about the benefits of khadi. To promote and mobilise the concept of khadi an array of activities like Slogan Writing, Poster Making, Article Writing and Mind/concept mapping was organised in the class. This helped in better understanding of the concept. They collected various types of fibres and fabric, researched important facts about them and presented the same meticulously in the form of ‘My Fibre Booklet’. They were pleased to share important facts with their peers. BIOLOGY : Movement and Locomotion Enhancing their knowledge about movement and locomotion and to differentiate between both various joyful activities were held in the class. The students tapped their feet, moved their shoulders, snapped fingers, patted legs, raised hands, tapped fingers together and turned hands around to understand the meaning of the movement. To have a deeper understanding of locomotion, they walked around in the class on toes and sometimes on heels, jumped, hopped and demonstrated chicken walk, crab walk, frog jump and camel walk. They visited the Science lab and studied various bones, ligaments and joints in the human body. SOCIAL SCIENCEHistory: New ideas and religions The rise of new religions and its cause was explained to students by giving examples of real-life scenarios. The Jainism and Buddhism religions, their rise and teachings were discussed by the students. Civics: Local Self Government and Rural Administration In their Civics lesson, students of Grade 6 discussed the need and importance of self-government. Students gained knowledge about Organizations of a Gram Panchayat and their relationship between the state government and Panchayati raj. Geography: The month of October saw the children learn about ‘The External Earth Processes’. They understood the processes of Aggradation and Degradation, Weathering and Erosion. They were also learnt about the agents that cause the landscape to change such as Running water (River), Wind and Glaciers. They then realized the power of the various agents in changing the landscape, right from the formation of a water fall to a delta to sand dunes and alluvial soil. It was heartening to see them curious and engaged. ICTThe students learnt different types of animation tools in Animate CC. They were able to identify and use its tools to draw on the stage. They understood and learnt how to animate a shape frame by frame. They used several Animate CC tools such as drawing tools, selection tools, transforming objects, colouring tools etc. ROBOTICSUNIT TOPIC: BASIC OF ELECTRONICS Activity: SWITCH In this session, students explored the different types of switches and their functions. They also explored the relation of a switch with our daily life by creating a staircase switch circuit using a paper and bell clip. Activity: Motor In this session, students explored different types of motors and working of DC motor by creating a circuit to show motor in action. Activity Making of a motor to study the working of a DC motor and understanding the internals of a toy motor to explain parts in it and compare it with a diagram. PHYSICAL EDUCATION CHESS
INDIAN MUSICIn the month of October, the students learnt the Prayer song : ‘Raam Astuti’ ‘ Sri Raam Chandra’, ‘Humko Man ki Shakti’ Bandish in Raag Bhairavi ‘Bhawani Dyani”. Instruments played: Combination of Harmonium, Tabla, Tanpura , Markas, Swartarang. Exercises done: Vocal warm-up with sargam in different scales WESTERN MUSICIn the month of October, the students were taught: Vocal warm up exercise in C minor scale Exercises done: Drums / Staff notation 4/4 they learnt how to read drums notation using the 5 lines and 4 spaces Instruments taught: (Drum) Dynamic, Exercises done: C major both hands finger warm up exercise (in piano) DANCEStudents learnt basics of Kathak dance form. They learnt how to emote different gestures, posture through body language and facial expressions. Apart from that they have learnt the choreography for on deepawali song “deepawali aayi re” and performed during the Diwali Special assembly. LIFE SKILLSDuring this month, students planned and presented role play on ‘Bullying’ and ‘Empathy’. They formed small groups and worked on their own showcasing short scene. Students planned the act, dialogues and executed working in a group.
