ENGLISHIn Literature, the students read a famous short story- ‘The Gift of the Magi’, a value-based inspiring lesson about unconditional love and selflessness. They made connections with the text and expressed their personal experiences. The focus was on comprehension, analysis of the text and vocabulary. The students tried finding the part of speech of some new words learnt and framed sentences with them. In poetry, the students read the poem- ‘The Painted Ceiling’ along with its analysis. They continued to identify the rhyming scheme, rhyming words while reading a poem. They were exposed to yet another form of informational text – ‘Poster Writing’. They were introduced to the format, post which they made posters on current events and social issues. The Shakespearean story ‘Twelfth Night’ was completed with a recap in a graphic organizer. HINDIकविता - 'फागुन में सावन ' का भावभिव्यक्ति से काव्यपाठ करते हुए वाचन सीखा । कवि की कल्पना और काव्यविधा को छात्रों ने उत्साहपूर्वक समझा । उपर्युक्त कविता के माध्यम से छात्रों ने ऋतुओं के बारे में जाना कि वर्षा , शरद , पतझड़ और गरमी ऋतु का प्राकृतिक गुण और उनमें आने वाले भारतीय पर्वों की जानकारी प्राप्त की। पाठ- 'बिन चिड़िया का जंगल' के माध्यम से छात्रों ने गावों और शहरों के वातावरण के बारे में कारण सहित जानकारी प्राप्त की कि किस प्रकार प्रगति की अंधाधुंध आगे बढ़ने की दौड़ ने प्रकृति के सुंदर उपहारों से हमें वंचित कर दिया । छात्रों ने समझा कि छोटे जीवों के प्रति हमारी संवेदना किस प्रकार कम होती जा रही है । जिस पर छात्रों ने अपने अपने संवेदनात्मक विचार प्रस्तुत किए । व्याकरण - मुहावरों और अविकारी शब्दों को भेदानुसार जानते और समझते हुए छात्रों ने भाषा के व्याकरणिक तथ्यों को समझकर एकांकीलेखन , नाटकलेखन का मुख्याधार रचनात्मक संवाद विधा को सीखा । FRENCHIn the month of November, students were introduced to negation and prepositions. New vocabulary related to animals was also done in the class. They also revised for their 2nd unit test and attempted the same. SANSKRITअव्ययपदा: , लट्लकार, शब्दरूप - अकारांत का अनुप्रयोग विभिन्न अकारांत शब्दों जैसे फल , वृक्ष , पुस्तक , बालक और छात्र शब्दों के आधार पर और आकारांतशब्दों का अनुप्रयोग विभिन्न आकारांत शब्दों जैसे बालिका और छात्रा शब्दों के आधार पर तथा अस्मद् - युष्मद् सर्वनाम शब्दरूप की प्रथमा -द्वितीया विभक्ति तालिका निर्माण करते हुए पाठ- मम पाठशाला और पाठ- परोपकार: के माध्यम से छात्रों ने गद्यांशावबोधन को सीखते हुए संभाषण विधा को सीखा। SPANISHStudents learnt about sports related vocabulary in the month of November. This was followed by a oral quiz. The complete conjugation of two important verbs were presented “Jugar” - to play and “Practicar” - to do and they worked on sentences construction, noticing the difference in the use of the verbs accordingly with the mentioned sports. Free time activities were discussed in the class and students learnt how to express likes and dislikes using expressions “Me gusta”- I like , “Me encanta” - I love and “Odio” or “Detesto” - I hate. The students also revised for the UT2 by attempting a worksheet and took up the assessment with confidence. MATHEMATICSWith the help of the number line concept and real-life examples, students understood Positive and Negative Integers. Also, they performed operations like addition and subtraction of integers. With the introduction of a matchstick activity [formation of many numbers of letter L], the concept of a variable was introduced to the students. Students used the variable in common rules such as the area of a square, perimeter of a square, area of rectangle etc. Students also converted statements into expressions and vice-versa. SCIENCEPHYSICS light and shadows Students understood the concept of Shadow formation through their visit to the darkroom and shadow formation in the ground on a sunny day. They also listed the factors affecting the shadow. Students constructed pinhole cameras after a discussion and explanation in the classroom. With the help of this activity, students understood image formation and listed differences between a shadow and an image. CHEMISTRY Changes Around Us Change is indeed inevitable and of course, it is the only constant in the world. The students of Grade 6 explored various types of changes through hands-on activities. They experienced reversible/irreversible/physical and chemical changes. ‘Blow the balloon’, ‘Melting and freezing ice’ and ‘Vinegar soda’ activities were loved by them. They could easily differentiate between tearing and burning of paper as a physical and chemical change respectively. They understood the effect of temperature on various objects. This demonstration was followed by a discussion on application-based questions. BIOLOGY Body Movements The students appreciated the importance of various types of joints when they themselves experienced ‘A Day without Hinge Joint in Elbow’. They tied a splint on one of their classmates’ elbow and watched him doing various activities without bending the same. This was followed by a Q n A session. They gladly made cute skeletons using earbuds and named them as ‘Huddy Buddy’, ‘Spooky Bones’, ‘Scary Skeleton’, ‘Mr Bony’ and other interesting names. This activity enhanced their knowledge of various bones in the human body. SOCIAL SCIENCEHISTORY First empire The beginning of the Mauryan empire was discussed with the students. They were divided into different groups to research and collect info related to Chandragupta, Bindusara and Ashoka. After collecting the info they presented the same in class. They also gained knowledge about Ashokan edicts and Administrative & religious policies of Ashoka. Students discussed the Mauryan administration, art and architecture. They shared their views about the decline of the Mauryan empire. CIVICS Democratic Government Students were assessed on their prior knowledge about ‘Democratic government’. They discussed the different elements of democracy. To experience the same a classroom activity was conducted to elect a class monitor by exercising the right to vote. They also gained knowledge about accountability, freedom, resolving conflicts and equality & justice. GEOGRAPHY Relief features of continents A topic taken up with great interest for it was the learning that relief features around the world come about as a result of both Endogenic and exogenic forces got the students involved in class. The students understood the process of the formation of Fold mountains and and block mountains with clarity as they realised that due to internal forces there is constant movement of the tectonic plates and nothing on the earth can fall off it . They used different layers to create multiple objects for animation in different keyframes at different timings. They also learned the Tween animation effects such as motion, shape and classic. WESTERN MUSICIn the month of November, the students learnt: Lesson taught: Vocal warm up exercise in C minor scale : “Feliz Navidad” Christmas carol (Spanish version) Exercises done: Drums / Staff notation 4/4 Children Learnt how to read drums notation using the 5 lines and 4 spaces Instruments played: Drum (Dynamic) Exercises done: C major both hands finger warm up exercise (in piano) INDIAN MUSICIn the month of November, the students enhanced their singing and instrumental skills through the following songs and instruments. Name of the song: Prayer song: 'Hamko man ki Shakti' and 'Raag Yaman Bandish' Instruments played: Combination of Harmonium, Tabla, Tanpura, Markas, and Swartarang Exercises: Vocal warm-up with Sargam in different scales DRAMAStudents understood how to work as a team in the theatre. They understood the various parts of comedy plays and one-acts. Also, they understood how to portray comic characters in one-act plays focusing on acting techniques, body language, observational skills, voice modulation, diction and speech. DANCEThe students learnt the basics of Indian classical (Kathak), semi-classical and western dance form. They learnt how to emote different gestures, posture through body language and facial expressions. They also learnt Guru Vandana, Tatkaar (basic footwork), Hastak (basic hand-movements) of kathak. For more understanding of rhythm, they learnt ‘teen taal’ (16beats) as all Kathak basics are on ‘teen taal’. Apart from that, they learnt the choreography on Christmas song ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’. (Funky version) ART and POTTERYThe students drew birds and their shadows in integration with Mathematics and Science and they coloured them with pastels and acrylic colours. They also drew marine life compositions and coloured them. In clay modelling class they made fish and boat in clay and coloured . PHYSICAL EDUCATIONBASKETBALL
ROBOTICSUNIT TOPIC: BASIC OF ELECTRONICS Activity: Motor In this session, students explored different types of motors and working of DC motor by creating a circuit to show motor in action. They made DIY motor using copper wire and magnet to study the working of a DC motor and understand the internal parts of a toy motor. LIFE SKILLSAs said, “Prevention is better than cure”. Hence, students were taught about Stress and its types and how does it affect any person. Students also identified common stressor that cause stress. Students learnt how to reduce stress.
