ENGLISHIn the month of January, the students learnt the concept of Preposition and Conjunction in Grammar. They studied the concept of preposition, its types and application in various situations. In conjunctions too, the students focused on the application of the rules as part of their writing skills. They continued to practice more of Article Writing. From the Tales of Shakespeare, the students studied the masterpiece of ‘King Lear’ through audio visual aid, textbook and class discussion. HINDI"वेनका की चिट्ठी " नामक पाठ का नाट्यरूपांतरण करते हुए छात्रों ने सामाजिक बुराइयों के प्रति संवेदनशील होने , सामाजिक बुराइयों के प्रति जागरूक रहने , जीवन मूल्यों को आत्मसात करते हुए परिश्रम द्वारा असफलता पर विजय प्राप्त कर उन्नतिपथ पर आगे बढ़ने की सीख प्राप्त की । पाठ - "भारत की वास्तुकला" नामक पाठ का पठन-श्रवण-वाचन कौशल का मूल्यांकन करने के उपरांत वर्णविच्छेद के द्वारा वर्तनी सुधार का अभ्यास किया । दृश्य-सामाग्री के माध्यम से भारतीय वास्तुकला के प्रति छात्रों में जागृत जिज्ञासा प्रशंसीय रही। "पर्यटक मेल ,चित्रों के खेल" नामक गतिविधि के माध्यम से छात्रों ने भारतदर्शन का सौंदर्यपूर्ण मौखिक व लिखित वर्णन किया । FRENCHIn the French lessons, students learnt the vocabulary of family members, along with a visual of family tree on the smart board. The concept of possessive adjectives was introduced with examples. An activity related to family members was also done. Further, students started revision of Grammar lessons already completed in class. SPANISHThe chapter “Este fin de semana” was introduced this month. Students learnt a list of activities to enjoy during the weekend. The Immediate future tense was introduced and they practiced with a role play asking and answering the question ¿Que vas a hacer este fin de semana? What are you going to do this weekend? SANSKRIT"पाठ- गणतन्त्र -दिवस " के माध्यम से छात्रों ने संस्कृत भाषा का पठन- लेखन-श्रवण-संभाषण का अभ्यास करते हुए गद्यांशावबोधन का अभ्यास कर भाषा ज्ञान प्राप्त किया। छात्रों ने संख्यावाची शब्द १ -२० तक का लिंगवाचनानुसार प्रयोग करते हुए चित्रावली का वर्णन किया । जिसके माध्यम से छात्रों ने संस्कृत को सीखने के प्रति उत्साह दिखाया। लट्लकार में शब्दरूप-अकारांत , आकारांत की पुनरावृति के साथ हिंदी से संस्कृत में अनुवाद का उत्साहपूर्वक किया गया प्रयास अत्यधिक प्रशंसनीय रहा। पुनरावृति रूप धातुरूप लट्लकार और लृटलकार शब्दरूप - अकारांत और आकारांत का अनुप्रयोग तथा अस्मद् - युष्मद् सर्वनाम शब्दरूप की समस्त विभक्ति-तालिका निर्माण कर वाक्य रचना करते हुए अनुवाद सीखा । MATHEMATICSThis month, students were introduced to the concept of Ratios through a class activity by comparing the number of boys and girls based on their age, height etc. They took their understanding further to compare the ratio using unit conversions, money, income and saving and expenditure. Further, students interviewed their parents on several parameters like house rent/EMI, school fee, food, entertainment, transport, medical, electricity bill, telephone bill and tabulated the information on the expenses and compared using ratios. The information was used to compare whether ratios are equal or not to understand the concept of Proportions. Subsequently, they also learnt about the unitary method of calculation using real life problems. SCIENCEPHYSICS: Revison This month, students revised the ‘Magnetism’ chapter through oral, written and application based methods and attempted an assessment on the same. CHEMISTRY :Separation of Substances As the students have completed their syllabus and geared up for the final examination, the previously learnt concepts were revised in the class through ‘Peer tutoring’, ‘Group- discussion’ and ‘Just A Minute’ strategies. BIOLOGY : Reproduction in Plants Grade VI Students used observation skills to dissect a flowering plant, identified and labelled each part and its role in reproduction. The students were able to identify the steps in the life cycle of flowering plants, identify the role of the male and female reproductive parts of a flower related to pollination and fertilization, and differentiated between unisexual and bisexual flowers. SOCIAL SCIENCEHISTORY: Political Developments Students learnt about the sources of politics - like Charita Kavyas and Pashastis. They gained knowledge about The Gupta Dynasty (Chandragupta I, Samudragupta, Chandragupta II). They also discussed about Administering Empires, Emergence of New Kingdoms. Further, they also studied about the Kingdoms of South India like Pallavas, Chalukyas and Local Governance in which role of assemblies in South India and life of Local people was discussed. CIVICS: Rural and Urban Livelihood Students were assessed on their prior knowledge about “Types of Occupations” i.e. Primary, Secondary and Tertiary occupations. They discussed about the means of livelihood in Rural areas like farming and non-farming occupations. They gave suggestions for rural indebtedness and discussed the Government initiatives for the same. Urban livelihood chapter was introduced and will be continued next month. Flipped class –brainstorming with the students to come up with words on day 1 related to the topic ‘Climate’ .Interestingly students came up with many related word such as water, wind , rain, clouds and temperature but needed to be guided towards understanding . When the temperature is high what does it mean? Hints were given and they were asked to find out the connections with other weather phenomenon. They came back with the concept of lightness and heaviness of the air and were gradually then guided to use the term ‘pressure’ to explain the same and then drew conclusions about the relationship between temperature and air. Going further they were able to understand the range of temperature and were able to understand the factors affecting the climate of a place. Song: Million dream Instruments: Guitar/keyboard/Drum/ shakers/Bass Guitar INDIAN MUSICIn the month of January, the students learnt Name of the song: Sloka chanting with instruments “ Sarve bhavantu sukhina, om Purnamida , Shubhamkaroti kalayanam ”. Instruments played: Combination of Harmonium, Tabla, Tanpura, Markas, Swartarang. Exercises done: Vocal warm-up with sargam in different scales. DANCEThe students learnt the basics of classical, semi-classical, ballet & contemporary dance style for the Annual Day choreography based on five elements, to save mother earth and love for nature. They learnt about all the emotions for different elements like for sky- its grandness, air- free world for birds , fire- the strongest, earth -the beauty and water- the life. Navras is the most important part of our life, so all the students enjoyed learning about all 9 emotions through two different choreographies. DRAMAStudents learnt various forms of acting in drama classes, like mood, gesture, posture facial expressions, laughter, anger and sadness with the help of a story and their characters of ‘Jungle Book’ and also understood various characters of the ‘Jungle Book’, like Sherkhan- the lion, Mowgly- The son of jungle, Bageera- the wolf, Ballu- the bear while practising for Annual Day ‘Jungle Book’ presentation.They also practice for annual day 2019-20 jungle book. LIFE SKILLS“Creative Thinking skills” was the topic for this month. Students concluded that ‘what we think’ is important but ‘how we think’ is more important. Keeping this in mind, the technique by Edward De Bono “The 6 Thinking Hats” was introduced to them. Students learnt how and when to use these six hats along with their colour specific role. Activity : Logic gates In this session, students explored the concept related to logic gates and built hardware logic circuit to understand the use of a logic circuit using a switch as inputs and LED as output. Activity : LDR In this session, students hardcover the concepts related to LDR by building a prototype circuit highlighting its function.
